Cholesterol Myths - You Are Made To Believe That Cholesterol Is Bad...
The Cholesterol Myths Exposed
We were told, too much animal fat and high cholesterol are dangerous to our heart and vessels. This is nothing but a cholesterol myth. In fact there are more cholesterol myths below:>
Americans have the highest cholesterol in the world. Not true. Another cholesterol myth.....
In 2005, according to WHO, American men rank 83rd in the world in average total cholesterol. American women rank 81st. In both cases, the average number is 197 mg/dL.
Compared to the top-ranked countries:In Colombia the average cholesterol among men is a dangerous 244, while the women in Israel, Libya, Norway, and Uruguay are at 232.
Eggs are evil. Not true.
It's true that eggs have a lot of dietary cholesterol about 200 mg, which is more than two-thirds of the American Heart Association's recommended limit of 300 mg a day.
Eating an egg or two a few times a week isn't dangerous. In fact, eggs are an excellent source of protein and contain unsaturated fat, a so-called good fat.
Kids can't have high cholesterol. Not true
Most people think high cholesterol is a problem that's strictly for the middle-aged. Atherosclerosis—the narrowing of the arteries that leads to heart attacks—can start as early as age eight.
"Food is heart-healthy if it says "0 mg cholesterol". Not true.
Saturated fat found in animal foods and dairy products and trans fats found in packaged foods have a far greater impact on low-density lipoprotein (LDL) than dietary cholesterol.
Cholesterol is always a bad thing. Not true.
When most people hear "cholesterol" they think "bad." High cholesterol can be dangerous. But cholesterol itself is essential to various bodily processes, from insulating nerve cells in the brain to providing structure for cell membranes.
The above cholesterol myths are not true. They are just cholesterol myths!
"THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE"
Here are the facts!
Cholesterol is not a deadly poison as its made out to be. It is a substance vital to the cells of all mammals. There are no such things as good or bad cholesterol as we were told to believe.
However, mental stress, physical activity and change of body weight may influence the level of blood cholesterol. A high cholesterol is not dangerous by itself, but may reflect an unhealthy condition. It can also be totally innocent.
High blood cholesterol is said to cause atherosclerosis and also coronary heart disease. This is not entirely true. Many studies have shown that people whose blood cholesterol is low become just as atherosclerotic as people whose cholesterol is high.
Your body produces three to four times more cholesterol than what you eat. The production of cholesterol increases when you eat little cholesterol. It decreases when you eat more food containing cholesterol. This explains why diet cannot lower cholesterol more than on average a few per cent.
There is no evidence that eating too much animal fat and cholesterol promotes atherosclerosis or heart attacks. It was proven in more than twenty studies that people who had a heart attack haven't eaten more fat of any kind than other people. The degree of atherosclerosis at autopsy is unrelated with the food intake.(diet)
The only effective way to lower cholesterol is with drugs. But neither heart mortality or total mortality have been improved with drugs. The effect of which is cholesterol-lowering only. Besides, these drugs are dangerous to your health because of the many side-effects, and may shorten your life.
Cholesterol myth exposed! They use it to sell drugs that kill you!
No doubt the new cholesterol-lowering drugs,(statins) do prevent cardio-vascular disease. But this is due to other mechanisms other than cholesterol-lowering. Unfortunately, these drugs also stimulate cancer in rodents, disturb the functions of the muscles, heart and the brain. Pregnant women taking statins may give birth to children with malformations more severe than those seen after thalidomide.
In fact, many of these facts have been presented in scientific journals and books for decades. Unfortunately, they are rarely told to the public by the proponents of the diet-heart idea.
The reason why the public, doctors and most scientists have been misled is because opposing and disagreeing results are systematically ignored or misquoted in the scientific press.
